A 25 minute job cost over $900

They showed up on time and communication was excellent. Getting an appointment was easy also! Very friendly all around.... . But what turned out to be a very quick (2 guys were here less than half an hour ) replacement of a hose water spigot cost me over $900. Was absolutely absurd. I will labsolutely never call this company again. Price gouging at its best!

User's recommendation: get a firm quote for any work.

I am pissed the used car salesman technique from the repairman. A very snide attitude he had. If I didn't need the job done so bad I would have sent him away

overcharged me, along with a nasty attitude, I will never recommend Beacon to anyone. Too bad they use Marshawn Lynch it makes him look bad.

User's recommendation: Find someone that can do the same job for less money and a better attitude.

I can't believe this company!! If you want a company that doesn't care about their employees at all then this is the one for you. My husband worked for this company. He would put in 70 hours a week going in at 7 am and some times not getting home till 10pm. The other...

This compay can not be trusted

I call them up to come over to look at my furnace. They show up at my house in an hour. They look at my furnace and told me it's not working and want over $400 for diagnostic and give me an option to replace with a new furnace around 5K or 6K. This company want to make a quick buck and did not care about their customer. They charge me $82 and leave. I call customer service to complain about their service and make matter worse. (They will lecture and try to insulting you). Do not fall in their trap like I did, and do not call Beacon Plumbing for any kind service you. You will be regret.

User's recommendation: Do not use Beacon Plumbing for service.

Price gouging

Had them service a leaking 3/4" copper pipe on Sunday (+$100). Two employees arrived within a reasonable time. One worked while the other sat in their vehicle or spent time chatting. 1 hr 45 minutes after they arrived they were driving away after charging me $1,200. I challenged a cost of ~$600 an hr for replacing a 1.5' of pipe, it was explained to me that Seattle insurance premiums drove the price up. The cost was a surprise since they refused to estimate the cost up-front. Be careful, I doubt Marshawn Lynch (TV Add) is aware Beacon Pluming if ripping folks off. I attempted to contact their office multiple times over a year, and was ignored.

User's recommendation: Insist on prices up-front! If you experiences issues with Beacon Plumbing, contact the Better Business Bureau first.

Total scam artists

Update by user Sep 30, 2020

Asked Beacon to contact us with information as to what they felt they should be paid for. Never received an answer.Wanted just to finished this off.

They offered to remove lien on our property for 1/2 payment. We paid 1/2 of a crazy bill with no explanation of why they chose to do this.

We were told they place liens "for shock value". Terrible.I still have a pending small claims court case pending for the damage done to our property.

Original review posted by user Aug 27, 2020
Called them for help, they never fixed the problem, insisted on payment before they would leave. Found another company who immediately fixed the problems at half the cost estimated by Beacon. Stopped payment to Beacon. They never contacted us and just put a lien on our property. Now we have a huge hassle from these scammers. We are now suing them.

User's recommendation: Run, do not walk from Beacon!

The plumber

The plumber came out to fix my hose bib as it was leaking. I had to put a cap on it for it to stop. He said he had fixed it and charged me $383. He me told that if he couldn't fix it, that there would be no charge. That afternoon it was leaking again. He came back 3 times and then said he could not fix it. He said the office would credit my card. Well they refused. So I paid them all that money for nothing. I have disputed it with my bank and also put in a complaint with the BBB. I wished I had come to this site, I would NEVER have called them.

User's recommendation: Stay a way. They do not stand by their plumbers word.

Avoid being scammed by Beacon Plumbing

Felt scammed by Beacon Plumbing yesterday. Hot water heater died - called Beacon. Said they would be out to service between 2-5pm and quoted a $75 service call charge. Their technician started calling at 9am to arrange an earlier time. After multiple calls from technician, Beacon arrived at 11am. After a brief explanation of the issue, the technician said $300 diagnostic fee was needed and required me to sign to acknowledge the fee. "Diagnostic test" took less than 10 mins. Technician said needed a $2,600 part which he would have to order and not sure when it would arrive OR they happen to have a $5,600 replacement tankless water heater on their truck which they could install. Fortunately, I had a contractor on site doing some remodel work. He called a plumber reference and they quoted $4,000 to do the same work. I feel Beacon scammed with an ridicules $300 diagnostic fee and a push to overpay for a replacement hot water heater. We called Beacon home office today to complain about the diagnostic fee and overcharge quote to replace. Their response was "not our issue". Very unprofessional and ,as I understand from talking to others, this appears to be a trend with how Beacon operates.

Check You Tube before calling ANYONE!!!

I bought a new washing machine and when the people came to hook it up they said there was a leak in the cold water spigot going to my washer. My wife had a Beacon guy come out on a SUNDAY (of course these things don't happen on a weekday!) charging me $110 just to just LOOK AT IT ($100 for service call + $10 tax for a Sunday). Told us a couple of things that he could do to fix this problem that would end up costing me $700 or more. Told this guy - No way we're paying that much! Thanks to You Tube, I didn't have to have these rip-offs gouge me for more than they already did for doing NOTHING! Watched a You Tube video, went to Home Depot and got a new valve and replaced it myself for just over $10. ( https://www.globalindustrial.com/p/plumbing/valves/outlet-boxes/oty-38550-quadtro-washing-machine-outlet-plain-box-no-valves ) WOW! They couldn't tell me this??? Gouging-Rip-off-Opportunists! Make sure to check out You Tube for your answer before calling ANYONE! Do to your covert tactics to be less than honorable and honest, I will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER call or use Beacon Plumbing!!! Here's the video: https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=you+tube+REPLACING+A+WASHING+MACHINE+VALVE&&view=detail&mid=08643A3DEB8968F5602B08643A3DEB8968F5602B&&FORM=VRDGAR The guy that came out had zero personality and really didn't seem to care about our situation. Took me about 10 minutes to fix after getting the valve...Still can't believe they gouged me $110 for doing NOTHING! Didn't say ANYTHING about JUST REPLACING THE VALVE!!! WOW!!!

Scammers, dishonest, snarky and aggressive

they did show up immediately which was great. the undermined the structural integrity of a stairwell. they did not cap a pipe. once they realized we had expert advice and were getting bids for the rest of the non emergent work they got angry. We know they can get inspection done and pull ther permit and leave what they have done open. Dishonest another words. And charging 3x the amount of other bids. They are making it hard for us to move on and finish the job with another plumber. its a battle.

Scam, total scam

They know you are taking time off to wait for their visit. They say the problem could be significant, then it turns out $1000 later to be a 30 min fix. This is why they don't charge by the hour. No way they could screw you the way they do if it was by the hour. Never, never again will I use Beacon.

INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE AND UNNECESSARY REPAIRS

Had Beacon come out because of a clogged drain. I’m still “freakin.” The plumber tried to recreate the leak although it was clear the sewer drain was clogged. He flushed the toilet which blew the wax ring and then charged $400 to reset toilet on a $5=wax ring. Found washing machine valves were not up to city code and charged $400 to replace with two new valves and hoses. He was there for the sewer drain. Called in the water flushing truck to flush sewer line after send No camera through the line. $1500 although Angie’s List says this should cost $700-800. In total, had the bill been $1500 it would have been great. $3,000 in all. Then sewer specialist came out and quoted $40,000 to fix sewer line. Plumber warned it could get blocked agin tonight. Really? You can run a lot of snakes for $40k. Do your best to find a reasonable alternative.

Technician negligence on behalf of Beacon Plumbing

We hired Beacon Plumbing to replace a water heater at a rental property. Two problems: Charged is twice for one service - close to $3,000 from our account. Main issue... technician left a water valve open after installing the water heater. The valve that the tech left open was a line that runs under the house. So for 2+ months (few days in Dec, all of Jan, all of Feb and few days in Mar) water was running freely under the house. We were not made aware of the problem until we received the utilities bill that was almost $3,000. We went to the property the same day our tenant shared the utilities bill with us because clearly there was a water break or something of the like, that's when we noticed the water valve was left on. We immediately reached out to Beacon regarding this issue the night that the problem was discovered and the following day as well. In a nutshell our complaints and concerns to Beacon regarding this issue have fallen on death ears. We were working with Kasen (Service Manager) who offered now resolution and basically tried to put the blame on the tenant about turning the water value on or for not finding the problem sooner (their comments were: she should have known the valve was on or how do we know our tech turned the water valve on...), after much back and fourth and getting a legal firm involved, Kasen stopped all communication with us and referred me to their legal counsel. Kasen nor their legal counsel responded to our initial letter from a lawyer. A second legal letter was drawn up and sent directly to their legal counsel. Again no response. All in all - the tenant has received 3 higher than usual water/sewer bills. Slightly high utilities bill in Dec, very high bill in March then just received a high invoice in May. Tenant is stating they are not responsible for the water bill since we hired and trusted Beacon Plumbing. I'm disappointed in this company for a number of reasons, I would never refer Beacon Plumbing to a friend or family member. Consumer beware. If you think of this company because of the Seahawk players Lynch and Wagner (like I did)... think again. They are more trouble then it's worth (review complaints on BBB, Yelp and other online sources). There are way to many other reputable companies out there who want your business and standby their work good or bad and who would be willing to resolve customer issues not ignore them like this company is doing. Something to keep in mind.

We are in the process of taking Beacon Plumbing to small claims court. We had our first court date a couple of weeks ago.

They would not mediate via the courts because per their legal counsel (who actually called us) they will only mediate in certain city courts, we were not aware of this until 3 days before our court date when Steve called us. We kept our court date in Seattle and have a trial date scheduled in March.

Rip Off Pricing and intimidation of an older person

My elderly friend was having new countertops installed and contacted Beacon to disconnect the sink. She asked on the phone what the cost for that would be and was told $79 for the first half hour. They arrived, disconnected the sink within 20 minutes and charged her $659. She felt intimidated and paid it. They then tried to talk her into them coming back to reconnect the new sink for $2000 (and later called her again to try to talk her into it!). She demurred. This is bait and switch of an elderly person and they took advantage of her. I called to complain and talked to their customer representative Jason, who said the charge was reasonable and she had signed it. "We're an expensive company," he said. This is an outrageous charge for a simple job and they misrepresented the cost when she called.
