Dishonest Rip-Offs

I wanted to reset my water heater and turned off the breaker for the water. I could not find the reset button for the Water heater so I flipped the breaker back on then all my lights went out. I live in a condo of 16 units and did not know which box outside was the main breaker for my unit. I called Beacon who said it would be 75.00 for coming out and no overtime fees for it being the weekend. They said it would be an hour and it took them 8 hours to get here. He turned the breaker back on then asked where the main breaker was located outside. He open about 10 boxes then said this is yours and flipped the switch. We came back upstairs and the lights went on He then said we need to disconnect the water heater or my lights would go out which I later found out from the Water Heater Technician as it is under warranty. He checked the wire for the water heater closed the box, this took 15 min. I was charged 354.10 for him flipping a few switches.

I spoke with the manager who was rude telling me they may cost more but their service is fast. Because he disconnected my water heater I had to take the day off getting him to call the warranty company so they would not void the warranty. The water heater is not even a year old. Also, my homeowner's Management said he had no business tampering with the outside breakers because of liability. Also talking to a Water heater tech informed me he has never heard of someone completely losing all electricity. I am 66 and wish I knew what to do. I told him I did not know how I was going to make it to my next payday and he said that was my problem.

They totally ripped me off and could care less. I talked with many companies after this experience and the cost was out of line. They have no humanity. I am so disappointed and hope sharing my story will keep someone from calling them in the future for repairs. I work for the State and plan to file a complaint. Maybe they did not break any laws but what happened to being honest, fair and human.

Its heartbreaking to see what has happened to Customer service and compassion.

Horrible

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Terrible experience. Sewer leak in our basement late one night, couldn't run the water/ flush toilet/ anything. They come out after making us commit to "after hour fee" of $100 just to get them to our door. When they arrived, they say we have to commit to $846 before they start to snake the pipe. When they found and only broke up some roots within 20-30 min, our problem was solved. Right after we signed, our neighbor ran over to warn us what a terrible experience she had had, and wondered if we already committed to something. Wish she arrived sooner! Why can't Beacon charge based on what they find and what they end up doing with time spent rather than have you commit to an extensive amount when you are most vulnerable and dependent on them? After spending $1000 for less than an hours worth of work, I felt taken completely advantage of. What a horrible way to run your business. I felt more upset by how much they charged us rather than having a flooding problem. I called for a manager to discuss this. They never called me back after several messages. When I finally got a hold of one he denied charging over double what the national average charges. Truly, go with another plumber company. Don't support these guys.

SHAME ON BEACON PLUMBING!!

Shame on Beacon!! Called them for a pipe leak we thought was under a concrete slab. Told receptionist we thought we needed a camera or something to detect leak as we could not see it or any standing water. She told us "all trucks are fully equipped". We agreed to $75 for just coming out. Guy who came did not have the proper equipment to help us, gave us # for another company and charged us $240 for doing NOTHING! I spoke with mgr Patrick who agreed this wasn't fair and he would refund or credit us towards the work. We were able to do the work ourselves. Long story short, after several calls (which they didn't return ) Kaeson the customer service guy refused to refund us our money, but would give us credit of $50 towards future work. REALLY? SERIOUSLY?? They think that's FAIR? They obviously need the cash more than we do! DONT CALL BEACON IF U DONT WANT TO BE FREAKIN! Can u say unethical business practices, poor "service" , scammers, bait n switch? There are way too many other plumbing companies out there to have to deal with these antics. SHAME ON THEM!

The worst plumbing company

I am a landlord that have used many plumbing companies but I have never hired a worse company. Beacon was called to clear an overflowing drain. Beacon showed up, proceeded to clean the main sewer line, videoed the line, and said that we needed to repair the main sewer at a cost of $9,500. After paying $750 for this "service", they left without fixing the overflowing drain. I asked for a copy of the video and they claimed that they do not record the results, so they could not provide a video. I called another plumbing with reputable ratings and they videoed the same line and said that nothing was wrong. They also quickly diagnosed the problem of the overflowing drain, which simply needed to be unclogged. Beacon simply told me that they don't provide any warranty for their drain cleaning services, and that it was not their fault that they cleaned the wrong line. I will never do business with this company again.

Ripped off by Beacon Plumbing Kent, Washington

Called Beacon Plumbing for emergency repair on a Saturday night. They had a big advertisement online. I recognized the name of their business. They answered the phone. Dispatcher quoted a $100 trip charge and then repair assessment at the site. Repair took 20 minutes. Charged $700 plus trip charge. No disclosure from dispatcher that $700 was ther minimum House call charge regardless of time spent. Deceptive practices to get business. Never again. Don’t use them and don’t call. I trusted former Seahawk Marshawn Lynch. It is a disgrace that his name is associated with this business who is taking advantage of consumers with price gouging.

They prey on your crisis!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The quick version: We called Beacon at 10:00pm on Wednesday night because our toilet and bathtub would not drain. We tried to clear the line but no luck. We had no way to flush our toilet so we were in crisis. Beacon called us and said the service call was $100 and they would bring their camera to check the line. That all sounded great and we were relieved someone could come out after hours. We knew this would not be cheap but we didn't realize it would be highway robbery! In a nutshell - they pulled the toilet which took 5 minutes, put the snake/camera down the line, cleared the clog and charged us $1057.71! They were here less than an hour! The details: Paul and David arrived. Paul was obviously in charge as he was completely RUDE and unprofessional to his co-worker David. Paul told me he would need to pull the toilet and run the camera/snake down the line. I then was hit with the shocking news this would cost close to $1000! But it was now almost midnight and we felt we were left with no choice. In retrospect we should have said NO, went and got a motel room and waited until morning to call out a reasonable plumbing company. Lesson learned! While the work was being done my wife started researching Beacon and found dozens of complaints about their pricing and tactics. She also found that the camera was not needed to clear the drain. My wife asked Paul if the drain could have been cleared without the camera and Paul answered "it is done!". She then asked again why we had to use the camera and Paul said "because your husband requested it". This was a 100 percent lie! We never requested the camera, ever! They told us they were bringing the camera and made it seem like that was the only way they could fix the issue. No other "cheaper" options were ever given to us. It was pay the $1000 or we don't fix it. Paul then said in a very condescending manner to my wife "you signed up for this, not me!". My wife was shocked and told him in no uncertain terms was he allowed to come into OUR home and talk to her like that. I also told Paul that he was rude to both my wife and his own co-worker David. My wife will be calling the office this morning to request some of our money back but based on the previous reviews this company preys on unfortunate circumstances with their outrages prices. Their response is basically "you agreed to the price so too bad". But maybe somebody in this company has an actual caring for the community they service?? We will update this report after our phone call.

Beacon Plumbing - Plumbing Service Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
let me summarize the story. Called Beacon because there was a leak from kitchen ceiling (bathroom) above. Insurance company said I could not do work myself or damages from the repair would be on me. I call Beacon. They will be there between 4-7 $75 just to come out. At 6pm a lady calls and asks me if her guys are there.....no. She says she will call me right back.....never hear from her. Plumbers show up at 7:17. They get up stair kick 3 holes in th wall find the leak. It's now 7:45. They explain its late and that if they remove the vanity it would cost 500+ they advised me to do it and they would come back tomorrow to fix plumbing. Broken PVCC fitting. Go down stair to settle up. To my shock 30 minutes of work is $496 plus $75 plus tax. Total just under $700. If I had known it would have cost that much I would have done it myself. Forget the insurance scare tactic $o700 for 30 minutes of wall kicking. No repair nothing. 3 holes in the wall and a shower spout not put back together. Be aware they have flat pricing no matter the hours but of course when I asked the estimate it was....we don't know what we have to do yet we will check the price book when done.....disappointment for them not being upfront about pricing structure and paying that much for what they did. I will never use their services again. I did contact their customer servic and received an email back saying that's their price.

Unprofessional

We woke up to a crisis under our kitchen sink and the kitchen was flooding. Trying to make light of the situation I called them on a Saturday morning and said "I'm freakin so I'm calling Beacon" (their obnoxious advertising on TV). I was hung up on immediately. Called back and someone else answered. I was put on hold for several minutes and then hung up. Ended up calling Southwest Plumbing. They came out quickly and repaired everything and were very professional. Beacon lost several hundred dollars worth of business and we will NEVER call again or recommend them. If they are going to use cheesy advertising, they need to expect callers to mention their advertising.

Charge me $450 for less than 15 minutes work. Then left me a towel to clean up with. They advertised on TV rule number 54 and other rules. None of which they followed. They did not use a map to set their tools on. They did not wear booties to keep the floor clean.

Insanely expensive

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Be prepared to spend double or triple than you expected. Just my luck I had a hot water valve start to leak under my kitchen sink. I called a company and they fixed it for $291. The same thing happened two weeks later under my bathroom sink. I couldn't remember the name of the first company. So I googled a plumber and called Beacon at 10AM. The said they'd be there between 12 and 4pm. I didn't hear anything until 5:20. They got there at 6PM. Very nice people, charged me $730. I figured it wouldn't be $291 because it was same day, but 2 1/2 times the rate I'd paid for the same job. Buyer beware. This was an insanely easy bit of plumbing work. I'm in the wrong business.

give to your best charity instead! 11/19/2016 Called this company to come fix my furnace They showed up the next day 11/20/2016 2 guys in a large truck Introduced them self I took them into the down stairs furnace room.

I went up stairs to relax and 5 minutes later herd loud hammer banging. Went down to investigate and one of the guys was beating on the gas regulator valve with hammer while the other looked on. when I asked him what he was doing he said he thinks he got it. so he Turned on the switch and the furnace started.

Then he proceeded to tell me all these items he fixed on my furnace. Coming from a engineering back ground myself and a dad who when alive owned his own heating and ac business I would have to call B.S on his I fixed it all statement. He only was down there a few minutes. And I don't be-leave in a bigger hammer fixes it theory.

I think he has just got a lucky hammer. Because the next day the furnace would not start again on 11/21/2016 I would call them back out to try again but I got a hammer ...lol I don't be-leave that neither of these 2 guys were certified to repair gas furnaces let alone know what they were doing. And yes they charged me 125.00 plus tax. and even wrote on my bill that I may need a new gas valve.

Is that before or after they beat the snot out of it with a hammer?? As they were leaving one of the guys saw some of my award plaques on the wall and asked if those were mine and what type of work did I do. When I told him he actually said " well *** you can afford a new furnace". REALLY!

who says that to a customer. So if you want to give money away give it to your best charity instead.

How is this company still in business??

Thieves with no plumbing experience. Thanks for cracking my tile floor, greasing my kitchen mat and performing a sewer scope without my permission and charging over $700.00 and not getting the job done. Sink still plugged. I wrote you a check and cancelled it once you left. Got a call from Cahill who dropped the F-bomb more than a frat boy. Beacons advise we'll have to jack hammer your slab to get to the leak and the cost is $20K. Another plumber cameover and said your pipe is running out the yard and I got it fixed. How are you still in business.
